ALEX Scholefield smashed a century and claimed four wickets as Mirfield Parish Cavaliers beat bottom-club Scholes by 154 runs in the Central Yorkshire League Premier Division last Saturday.
Scholefield and Iqbal Khan set a blistering lead in this 31 overs-per-side game as they blasted 203 for the first wicket.
Khan was out for 74 but with support from Ibrar Latif (30) Scholefield reached a deserved century as Parish scored at eight runs an over.
Scholefield finally fell on 125 to Craig Wood (3-26) before Parish closed on 256-3.
Scholes had little chance after being reduced to 9-2 and despite 28 from Nahim Ashraf and 24 by Mark Hydes were dismissed for 102 by Scholefield (4-37), Mohammed Shahnawaz (2-38) and David Winn (3-12).
Parish remain sixth while third-placed Methley closed on leaders Wrenthorpe and Birstall, who meet at Leeds Road tomorrow, after a seven-wicket success at Ossett.
Stephen Brown hit 28 and Jamie Sadler 19 as Ossett struggled to 88 all out with Chris Leaf claiming 6-34 and Vic Craven 3-46.
Craven top scored with 22 not out as Methley reached 88-3. Brown took 2-29 while Nick Connolly claimed 1-23.
The only other game to beat the weather saw Moorlands A go third in Division Three, three points behind leaders Scholes A, after a five-wicket win over Westwood Park.
Ian Lay took 2-44 and there was a wicket each for Danny Broadley, Steve Mallinson and Steve Auty as Westwood made 152-7 in their 30 overs.
Lay then top scored on 45 while Auty hit 23 and Martin Baldwin 27 as Moorlands reached 153-5.
