Referees will have the final decision over whether or not this weekend's football and rugby matches go ahead on Kirklees managed pitches.
The council's grounds maintenance staff have made strenuous efforts to get pitches ready for play this weekend. It will be up to individual referees to make inspections and decide if a pitch is playable.
The council stresses the importance of inspecting the safety of the ground conditions prior to playing any games.
