SHANNON SCHOOL PICTURE RELEASED AS POLICE RENEW APPEAL
POLICE have released a school photograph of Shannon Matthews taken last September.
Shannon's mother Karen Matthews hopes it will lead to new information that could help the police in their search for her nine-year-old daughter.
Det Supt Andy Brennan urged people looking at the picture to think back to the afternoon of Tuesday February 19 when Shannon was last seen at Westmoor Junior School.
He said: "Were you picking up your own children from school that afternoon or were you travelling in and around Church Lane close to Heckmondwike Road ? Did you see Shannon ? Please get in touch with us if you did."
"Perhaps you may have seen someone in the area who may have looked out of place or who you have not seen before ? Similarly, did you see any vehicles in the area that perhaps looked out of place or again that you haven't noticed there before ?
"Finally, can you cast your mind back to the days that followed the news of Shannon's disappearance. Do you have a family member, partner, close associate or neighbour who appears to have been behaving out of the ordinary or who you now think was acting unusually in any way at all ?
"If you can help with any of these questions please contact the Incident Room urgently on (01274) 373737."
Shannon is described as white, slim, around 4ft 1in tall, with shoulder length, medium brown coloured hair that was possibly tied up in a ponytail. She has blue eyes and freckles.
She was wearing a black school jumper with a school logo on it, a white cotton T-shirt, black trousers and a black waist length coat with fur round the hood. She was also wearing pink and grey 'Bratz' furry boots.
