KAREN Matthews will go on trial with the man accused of kidnapping her daughter.
Matthews, who has been charged with child neglect and perverting the course of justice, appeared via video link at Leeds Crown Court this morning (Wednesday). She wore a light blue T-shirt and spoke only to confirm her name.

It was decided she would face trial with Michael Donovan, who has been charged with kidnapping and falsely imprisoning nine-year-old Shannon Matthews.

Shannon was reported missing by Matthews on February 19 and found in a flat in Lidgate Gardens, Batley Carr, 24 days later.

Matthews and Donovan are expected to appear again to enter a plea on July 11, and a three week trial has been provisionally set to start on November 11.
