SHANNON Matthews was seen sitting on a wall crying in Dewsbury Moor on the day she disappeared according to reports in a national newspaper.
Two boys said they saw the missing nine-year-old after school on Tuesday February 19 at the top of School Lane, half way between Westmoor Junior School and her Moorside Road home.

One of the boys, aged 12, said: "She was crying her eyes out. There were tears running down her face.

"I didn't say anything to her. She had no coat on. But her plastic bag was full, so it was probably in there."

There have been three other unconfirmed sightings since the hunt for Shannon began.

The first was at a park on the junction of Staincliffe Road and Heckmondwike Road, Dewsbury Moor, at between 5pm and 8pm on Tuesday February 19.

There were reports that at the same time she was seen on playing fields behind Westmoor Junior School.

A third possible sighting was reported of Shannon on Moorcroft Road, heading towards School Lane, at 9.30am on Wednesday February 20.

But the only confirmed sighting of Shannon is still when she was seen at Westmoor Junior School at 3.10pm on Tuesday February 19.

Shannon is described as white, slim, around 4ft 1in tall, with shoulder length, medium brown coloured hair that was possibly tied up in a ponytail. She has blue eyes and freckles.

She was wearing a black school jumper with a school logo on it, a white cotton T-shirt, black trousers and a black waist length coat with fur round the hood. She was also wearing pink and grey 'Bratz' furry boots.
