CHURCHES Together in Dewsbury has raised more than £1,000 for the Shannon Matthews appeal.
Special collections for the fund continue to be taken at churches across the town.

The multi-denominational group has also been collecting refreshments at Dewsbury Minster to take up to teams of volunteers working on the appeal at Moorside Community House, Moorside Avenue, Dewsbury Moor.

Kathy Robertson, a curate in the Dewsbury Team Parish, said: "We continue to support the weekly events in the community which are aimed at maintaining the public awareness of Shannon's disappearance and being generally available as needed.

"The minster is acting as a dropping off point for resources for Moorside Community House, i.e. tea, coffee, biscuits, etc."

The fund is being used to print items such as posters and t-shirts raising awareness of missing Shannon.
