The dates don’t work

ReGARDING Kirklees Council and the Diamond Jubilee invitations to celebrate 60th anniversaries, I am writing to point out that someone born on Coronation Day will be 59 this year and not 60. Someone married that day has another year to wait for their telegram.

The King died on February 6, 1952, but the coronation did not take place until June 2, 1953. The Queen was 25 on accession and 27 on coronation day, having had two birthdays inbetween. She chooses to celebrate jubilees in the right year but wrong month because she does not wish to celebrate her father’s death. Kirklees Council should really invite those born or married on February 6, 1952.

KIRKLEES Council has apologised to Mrs Gooder saying it sent out the wrong information in error.

However, it is still inviting residents celebrating 60th birthdays or 60th anniversaries during Diamond Jubilee year to join the celebraions to mark 60 years since the Queen came the throne. Anyone with a 60th anniversary this year is asked to contact the Mayor’s office on 01484 221904.
