Final preparations are being made for this year’s Holmfirth Festival of Folk.

Final preparations are being made for this year’s Holmfirth Festival of Folk.

The town has had some kind of festival for around 30 years and organisers hope this year’s event will once more light up the town with live music, dancing and attractions.

Acts on at next weekend’s festival, May 8-10, include The Young ‘Uns, Roger Davies, Megson, The Sam Kelly Trio, Elbow Jane, Steve Tilston and Jez Lowe.

Headliners at the Holmfirth Picturedrome include the Hackney Colliery Band on Friday May 8, and Eddi Reader and Kate in the Kettle on Saturday May 9.

Members of the Hackney Colliery Band come from a range of different musical backgrounds and have worked with everyone from cutting edge jazz groups to the Royal Opera House.

Eddi Reader played with her group, Fairground Attraction, and has since had a successful solo career.

The Reporter Series has pair of tickets to give away for each of those gigs.

For a chance to win tickets to the events just answer the following question:

Why were folk fans said to be disappointed with Bob Dylan at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965, after the release of Bringing it All Back Home Again?

Send your answers to dewsbury.editorial@jpress.co.uk or post to Dewsbury Reporter, c/o Floor 5, 26 Whitehall Road, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS12 1BE.

The deadline for entries is noon on Wednesday May 6.

The festival is also looking for volunteer stewards to help out during the weekend.

Anyone interested can apply by emailing stewards@holmfirthfestivaloffolk.co.uk
