Five men have been released on bail after a group armed with baseball bats and golf clubs attacked a 23-year-old man in Batley last week.

Police said a group of around seven men repeatedly hit the victim’s head and upper body during the attack last Thursday.

They are appealing for witnesses to the assault outside Ash’s Balti Hut in Oakhill Road between 7.20pm and 7.35pm.

The victim taken to hospital and treated for serious head injuries after getting away from his attackers.

Five men have been arrested and released on bail.

Police said enquiries are ongoing.
