A BOY was knocked off his bike as he cycled to school.

Richie Wilson, 11, was going to the breakfast club at Earlsheaton High School when the accident happened at around 7.30am on Friday.

Although Richie escaped with minor injuries, the actions of the driver, in Bywell Road, Chickenley, have left his mother fuming.

Mrs Sarah Auty, of Cedar Road, said: “The driver just got out of the car, hurled abuse at my son, checked the car was not damaged, got back in and drove away.

“Any normal person would have checked Richie was all right, not acted like that and driven away. Richie had a very lucky escape.”

Richie was taken to Dewsbury and District Hospital with swelling to one arm and bruising to his legs.

Witnesses should call police on 101.
