Students from Thornhill Community Academy learned about the importance of commemorating the Holocaust when they attended a memorial event.

The year nine pupils, who are studying history, visited the Huddersfield University campus as part of the Witness Performance Project, and gave presentations on their experiences of listening to the testimony of concentration camp survivor Barry Anyst.

They had the chance to meet Mr Anyst, who shared his personal story with schoolchildren through the Holocaust Survivors' Friendship Association.
