Have your say

IT’S time to do something funny for money, with Red Nose day just a few weeks away on March 18.

There’s nothing like a good laugh to raise the spirits and we want to have a side-splitting edition of our paper that week – and to raise money for the appeal.

But we need your help. We want your knock knocks, your chickens crossing the road and your horses walking into a bar.

And one person who texts in will win a top prize courtesy of Jongleurs comedy club and Oceana nightclub in Leeds.

Jongleurs is giving away a pair of tickets for one of its comedy nights, which promises up to four top comedians in a 90-minute show. It is also throwing in a meal for two at the comedy club.

The prize also includes entry to the multi-award winning nightclub Oceana, with its six bars and two nightclubs. We are asking you to text us a joke and we’ll print the best to share with other readers. And we’re giving the profits from all texts sent straight to Comic Relief.

The prize will be valid for a Friday night of the winner’s choice.

So if you’ve got a rib-tickler to share, send it in. Please keep jokes short and snappy. The character limit per text is 160 characters, although you can send a longer one and pay for two texts.

Text the keyword DRSJOKE followed by a space, your joke and your name to 64343. Example: DRSJOKE [space] How do you know an elephant’s been in your fridge? Footprints in the butter. Steve Taylor, Dewsbury.

Terms and Conditions: Keep your funnies clean and suitable for reproduction in our newspaper. Texts to this service will be reverse billed at a £1 tariff. All profits will be donated to Comic Relief. Unsuitable or unusable jokes will not appear but will still be charged.

By sending in a joke, you automatically allow us permission to publish them as editorial content. The editor’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. The character limit is 160 (which includes spaces and the keyword); longer texts may be charged twice. Texts must be sent by 10am on Monday March 14, texts sent after this time may still be charged.

For full texting terms and conditions please refer to our letters page.
