Rugby league players will swap the pitch for the boxing ring to raise money for an injured player.

Ryan Glynn, of Russell Street, Dewsbury, suffered a serious spinal injury while playing for Shaw Cross Sharks in March.

The 25-year-old is back on his feet – after battling through two major operations and a stroke.

Shaw Cross Sharks Vice Chairman Mick Turner said: “Ryan’s looking at a 12 to 18 month recovery and we are all behind him.”

The event takes place at The Frontier, in Bradford Road, on Sunday June 16.

Players from Batley Bulldogs, Dewsbury Celtic and many more will compete.

Sporting memorabilia will also be auctioned on the night.

Ryan said: “I’m recovering well and know it will be a long process.”

“I want to thank everyone and I’m looking forward to seeing my friends.

“Rugby league is a family sport and the support has been fantastic.”

Standing tickets at £20 are still available. Call Mick Turner on 07973359548.
