RSPCA appeals for help after terrified dog found tied to lamp post

The RSPCA is appealing for information after a neglected dog was found tied to a lamp post in Dewsbury

The terrified dog was discovered at The Crescent on Wednesday evening by a member of the public who then contacted the RSPCA’s 24 hour helpline.

RSPCA inspector Kris Walker attended and immediately took the crossbreed, who was not microchipped,was underweight and had open weeping sores, to a vets for treatment.

Inspector Walker said: “He was absolutely petrified and didn’t know what to do with himself, he just wanted to hide in my jacket.”

The dog is described as a mature male crossbreed and was first found at around 6pm on Wednesday.

Inspector Walker said: “It appears that someone has dumped this dog in the full knowledge that he is suffering.

“I am very keen to trace anyone who knows anything about this dog and where he may have come from.”
