KIRKLEES College hopes to score with its latest partnership.
The college, which has a site in Halfiax Road, has joined forces with the Dewsbury Rams to offer new opportunities for students and build on community relations.
The partnership was announced this week at the Rams’ stadium in Owl Lane where students met the semi professional players, fresh from a weekend-tie at Olympique XIII in Toulouse, France.
Principal Chris Sadler said: “With this new relationship established we know that students will be given the opportunity to get involved with local events and projects. The community work that this club undertakes is something we would love to support in order to promote healthy lifestyles for primary and secondary school children. This is a message we also aim to give to our students when they leave school and go on to college.
“We believe in investing in our communities and making sure that our college is accessible to everyone who wants to learn. The education centre facility at the club provides an important service to youngsters and adult learners, which we would be interested in supporting.
“By backing rugby league in this area we will make more connections with local businesses, schools and individuals.”
Vice Chairman at Dewsbury Rams Andrew Farrow said: “All of us at Dewsbury Rams are delighted to be in partnership with Kirklees College, which is the pinnacle of education in Dewsbury and has been for many years.”
“We at Dewsbury Rams always strive to reach out to the communities of the town and beyond and this partnership will enable us to do just that.”
