AN EMPTY shop was filled with dozens of visitors when it hosted a pop-up portrait studio.

Kirklees College teamed up with Dewsbury’s Town Team for the one-day Face of Dewsbury event.

Using an empty unit in Empire House, second year students from the foundation degree in digital photography took portraits of 120 local people.

Tutor Stewart Jackson said: “We photographed a very diverse range of people from police officers to a guy digging up the road outside. It was very successful.”

Town Team’s Brian Taylor said: “We had a few ideas for working with the college. Our Spacebank members got permission to use the property for the day and the students moved in. It was really superb.”

The Spacebank group works to promote alternatives uses for empty properties in the town.
