Brass bands, flat caps and Yorkshire puddings will be in abundance when Yorkshire day is celebrated at Oakwell Hall.

The event will be held on Sunday July 28 at the country park off Nova Lane, Birstall.

The day will celebrate all things Yorkshire including the region’s landscape, food, traditions and people.

Activities will include donkey rides, longsword dancers, archery and much more.

The event will run from 11am to 4pm and be opened by the Deputy Mayor of Kirklees, Coun Ken Smith.

Yorkshire Day marks the creation of the Yorkshire Ridings Society and the first Yorkshire Day was held in 1975.

Admission costs £2 for adults and accompanied children can visit for free.

Entry wristbands and tickets can be bought on the day or prior to the event from the shop in Oakwell Hall.
