A low-price store is planning to move its operations to the old Morrisons site in Ravensthorpe, it has been revealed.

The Reporter series understands that Home Bargains are hoping to move into the bigger Ravensthorpe Retail Park plot later this year.

It will mean vacating their current Huddersfield Road premises at the complex.

Supermarket chain Morrisons announced in January that their Ravensthorpe Retail Park store was to close.

It was one of 10 loss-making branches due to be closed this year, with the loss of 409 jobs – most of which the chain’s then incoming chairman Andy Higginson said would be in the north.

Morrisons took over the Huddersfield Road store from Netto in 2011.

Home Bargains were contacted but did not wish to respond.
