A TEAM from Dewsbury Police Station conquered the gruelling Three Peaks recently – but it was a 10- year-old girl who scaled the heights of endurance.
Thirteen members of the station’s response team completed the circuit of Penyghent, Ingleborough and Whernside for a team-building exercise, accompanied by Millie, daughter of PC Amanda Taylor.
PC Taylor said: “I’ve only just got back to work after illness so Millie said, ‘It’s all right mummy, we’ll just do one mountain together’.
“In the end I managed the first two but she just carried on and never complained once – she’s a tough little cookie.”
The team camped overnight at Horton in Ribblesdale before setting out early the next morning and completing the 24-mile course in 12 hours.
PC Taylor said: “It was cloudy and quite cold when we set off but the sun came out later and everybody finished up sunburned. It made it a challenge for all of us but it didn’t seem to bother Millie half as much!”
