Man arrested over attempted kidnap of young girl in Dewsbury street

Police have arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of attempting to kidnap a young girl in Dewsbury.

The man remains in police custody, West Yorkshire Police said.

Earlier, police released an e-fit image of a man they wanted to trace in connection with the incident.

A man was reported to have grabbed a young girl in Ingham Road, in the Thornhill Lees area of the town, at about 4pm on Sunday.

The girl was with her 16-year-old sister when the man approached them and “took hold” of her.

He also assaulted the 16-year-old before letting the younger girl go and making off in the direction of Parker Road.
