Unions meet bosses at strike-hit Mid Yorkshire Hospitals Trust for talks
Latest news...
HEALTH bosses hope a dispute which led to three days of strike action at the district’s hospitals can be resolved following talks with unions today.
Talks were held this afternoon following a strike last week by admin and clerical workers at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals Trust, which runs Pinderfields, Pontefract and Dewsbury Hospitals.
The strike by Unison and Unite members has been suspended while talks are ongoing. A further meeting is expected to take place on Friday.
Graham Briggs, Mid Yorkshire’s director of HR, said: “I am pleased that we were able to meet with union representatives. I am hopeful we can continue with ongoing constructive discussions to resolve the issues of concern to us and our administrative and clerical workforce.
“We remain committed to working closely with the affected staff and their union representatives.”
Unison and Unite members voted to take industrial action over cuts to jobs and wages to reduce the pay bill at Mid Yorkshire, which faces a £26m deficit at the end of the year.
Both unions vowed to fight the cuts, which they said could leave members up to £2,800 worse off and with greater workloads.
