Children from Thornhill Junior and Infant School helped to enact a traditional wedding – but it was no ordinary ceremony.

Six Zulu warriors showed children the different dress, dances and chants involved in a traditional Zulu wedding.

Children also acted as the choir. 600 other pupils from Kirklees took part in the event at Huddersfield Town Hall as part of the Mrs Sunderland Festival.

Festival trustee Jenny Lockwood said: “I’ve never seen so many children so animated. It was fantastic.” (Credit: Laura Mateescu)
