Jewellery worth thousands is stolen

JEWELLERY worth thousands of pounds has been stolen in a burglary.

More than 500 pieces of jewellery were stolen from the school bungalow at Birkenshaw Primary School, as well as a safe and a Peugeot Expert van, in the burglary at about 9pm on October 31.

The jewellery had been in the owners’ families for decades and is of great sentimental value.

A man has been arrested.

Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact Det Cons Nick Doyle at Dewsbury CID on 01924 431038, via 101 or at Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
