Help make a Mirfield teenager’s wheelchair wish come true
MAKING A WISH: Mary Hinde, who suffers from cerebral palsy, needs to raise 16,000 for a new wheelchair with help from her mum, Sarah, and personal assistant Sean Milnes. (D536A310)
A remarkable teenager has made a wish that she hopes the people of Mirfield will help her make come true.
Mary Hinde, who suffers from cerebral palsy, wants to raise £16,000 for a new wheelchair that will change her life.
Her mum Sarah has launched the Mary’s Wish appeal to raise the money for a state-of-the-art chair that uses infra-red technology so that Mary can control it herself.
Sarah, a district nurse, said: “It will make a big difference to Mary because it will give her some independence to move to where she wants to go.”
Mary, 17, needs round the clock care and has a team of personal assistants. She goes to Hollybank Trust in Far Common Road for respite visits and enjoys doing outdoor activities at Shepley Bridge Marina.
So far around £9,000 has been raised and several events are being planned.
Anyone who wants to help can email maryswish@hotmail.co.uk or call Sarah on 0798 355 5610. Donations can be made via Paypal to the same email address. More details can be found on the ‘Mary’s Wish’ page on Facebook page.
