Furniture store stars on Top Gear
Peter Martin, Jason Bloom, Paul Braithwaite and residents of Sunrise Senior Living in Southbourne: Betty Barnes, Barbara Littlewood and Miriam Ridgers.
A furniture shop got a tongue-in-cheek mention on BBC’s hit show Top Gear.
Shackletons, based on Weaving Lane, Dewsbury, and which has a showroom on Bradford Road, Batley, was mentioned in the team’s latest challenge.
Presenters Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond created a vehicle specifically for pensioners.
They used the furniture store’s high seat chairs to give passengers some extra comfort.
Jason Bloom, national sales manager from Shackletons, said: “I have to say a call from Top Gear was not what I was expecting.
“However, keen to help and seeing the comedy value, we all totally embraced it.
“The ladies did look comfortable but ergonomically speaking I don’t think our chairs have a future in Fiat Multipla conversions.”
