Body of Batley scuba instructor found in Cumbria lake
A Batley scuba diving instructor has died in a tragic accident.
Carl Morris, 39, was diving with friends in Wastwater in the Lake District last Sunday afternoon when he failed to surface.
The emergency services were deployed to search for Mr Morris, including a RAF helicopter and mountain rescue.
The North West Police Underwater Search Team also joined the large-scale search and a body was found on Tuesday January 29.
He was named by Cumbria Police as Carl Andrew Morris, of Broadgate, Huddersfield, the following day.
A joint investigation by police and the Health and Safety Executive into the circumstances of his death is underway.
Mr Morris was a part-time instructor at Academy Divers, based at Batley Enterprise Centre in Bradford Road.
Staff at the centre were too upset to pay tribute to him.
