Craig Kellet is nearly at the halfway mark in his quest to run over a thousand kilometres this year - and all in aid of a good cause.

Craig, from Gomersal, has committed to pounding the pavements up and down the country as he looks to raise funds for Marie Curie.

The decision to take on such an energy-sapping challenge came when Craig found out his mum, who was treated for breast cancer 2012, had been re-diagnosed with the illness and was to undergo more chemotherapy.

Craig said: “The treatment is working well and because it has been diagnosed early we are confident all will be fine in time.

“It seemed like the natural choice to raise funds for Marie Curie.

“They help others who have not been so fortunate and are facing the end of their life.”

In terms of fundraising, he has smashed his original target of £200 - raising more than double that figure already which will help local Marie Curie provide hands-on nursing care throughout the night to patients in their own homes.

Craig, who ran the Leeds Half Marathon in May, added: “I will be doing the half marathon next year and raising funds again for Marie Curie.

“My friends and family have already been so generous, though it would be great to see the total rising even more as I get closer to my end goal.”
