The Lady Heton Action Group believes it is one step closer to finding out the fate of a proposed housing site in Mirfield.

The Lady Heton Action Group believes it is one step closer to finding out the fate of a proposed housing site in Mirfield.

Developers Ben Bailey Homes had resubmitted a plan to build homes on land near Lady Heton Drive, but the action group still believes it is in breach of council planning guidelines.

As the paper went to press, the group was meeting with officers from Kirklees Council to discuss the application, which they hope could mean more changes to the plans.

Action Group member Peter Morgan said: “We are still unhappy with the plans in their present state, as most of the houses are still too close together.

“We are not suggesting the council makes Ben Bailey submit a third plan, but we are hoping to persuade them to put conditions on the application to make sure that the houses will be a certain distance apart.”

Plans were originally passed by the Heavy Woollen Planning Sub Committee earlier this year, but the action group argued the plans were in breach of council planning guideline BE12, which states that facing houses should be at least 21 metres apart.

The new plans are for 32 homes, rather than the original 34, but the action group still believes 30 houses are in breach of the rules.

The plans are expected to go back to committee on July 10, where councillors will decide whether to give the company the green light to build.

The updated plans can be viewed on Kirklees Council’s planning website, by typing application number 2013/62/93430/E into the search.
