A CARE home’s kitchen has won a five-star seal of approval during its first inspection.

Department of Environmental Health inspectors gave Ashworth Grange top marks for its kitchen facilities and hygiene standards.

The 64-bed home in Ashworth Green, Dewsbury, was opened by Ideal Care Homes in July.

It occupies the site of the council’s old Ashworth Court home which had become derelict.

Ideal Care Homes managing director Mark Greves said: “I am incredibly proud of the whole catering team at Ashworth Grange who have achieved the highest possible rating for food hygiene - a remarkable achievement for its first ever inspection.”

Home manager Paula Whitely said head chef Claire Whalley and her team took pride in working in the modern kitchens.

“They are relishing working with residents in order to make sure everybody enjoys the very best quality, home cooked food and we look forward to maintaining the excellent standards we’ve achieved so soon,” she said.
