An extra care housing facility was given the royal seal of approval when The Duke of Kent paid a visit to Dewsbury earlier today.

His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent officially opened Woodland Court, in School Lane, whilst meeting tenants who have recently moved into their new homes.

The facility is the first of three developments within the Excellent Homes for Life project to be completed, providing 46 homes for people who want to live independently, but require additional care and support.

A second site will open in Heckmondwike later in the year and by the end of 2014, 466 one and two bedroom homes will have been built by the project.
