Helping homeless at minster event

Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association in Dewsbury and Spen Valley marked the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan by joining forces with Reverend Simon Cash and his team at Dewsbury Minster to feed the homeless and needy.

They were joined by local MP Paula Sherriff and Sharon Kingsland, community champion at ASDA in Dewsbury.

The minster regularly takes care of the local homeless and needy by providing them with sandwiches and a warm drink.

On this occasion sandwiches, made by Mrs Kingsland, and portions of Chicken Korma, prepared by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth, were also provided. In total approximately 20 people were fed.

Rev Cash said it was good to see Muslims and Christians working together for the common good.

Paula Sherriff praised the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth members for their work and said she looked forward to being involved with more inter-faith events in the community.

Manzoor Ahmad, local coordinator of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth in Dewsbury and Spen Valley, thanked Rev Cash and his team for their assistance and said it is a part of every Ahmadi Muslim’s faith to serve humanity irrespective of their race, colour or religion.

He said the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth would continue to serve the local community and looked forward to working with the minster staff again.

Throughout Ramadan Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth members also collected 40Kg of clothes for the Humanity First appeal.
