OPPOSITION is hotting up against plans to build on green belt land in Chidswell, Dewsbury.
The principle of developing land to the east of the A653 was suggested as part of Kirklees’ Local Development Framework.
Campaign group Leeds Road Concerned Residents fears the area around nearby Grange Valley Farm could also be under threat.
The group said: “The grim reaper has returned yet again to the beautiful Grange Valley. This is the third time he has visited us in the last 18 years wanting to take the green belt fields for industrial use and housing.
“He was stopped before due to strong public opinion and with the help of local councillors. We are asking for local people again to send him on his way.”
A public meeting is to be held at the Tetley Stadium on Thursday, 7pm.
