Big hits and bruises will come to Dewsbury on Saturday as a roller derby league hosts an open day.

Wakey Wheeled Cats, who are based at Lightwaves Leisure Centre in Wakefield, are holding an open session at Dewsbury Sports Centre between 12pm-3pm.

People interested in joining the female, 18+ team can watch a typical practice session before kitting up and giving skating a try.
Roller derby is a full contact sport played on quad roller skates.

Captain Kirsty Quinn said: “We’ve always had players from Dewsbury and even held our first bout at the Sports Centre in 2010, so we’re really excited about coming back.”
