Pupils and staff at Chickenley Community School were joined by parents to mark the end of its much-loved Roots and Wings initiative.

The project, which used art to raise aspirations and encourage creativity, had been at the heart of school life for the past decade.
One of its most popular events was the annual Roots and Wings Carnival during which year six pupils took part in a parade up to Earlsheaton Technology College to mark the end of their time at primary school.
A similar event for nursery children called Wings of Happiness was later introduced along with Lanternland, an event open to the community.
