A RUGBY legend dropped in at a school’s fun-day with a difference.
Former Featherstone and England winger Ikram Butt visited Carlton Junior and Infant School’s Unity in the Community day, which was held to show pupils the best of what the community had to offer.
Ikram ran a rugby skills workshop and there were stalls from businesses and community groups, face-painting and a bouncy castle.
The school’s deputy head, Riz Ahmed, who helped organise the event said: “What was different about this event was that we wanted to make the local community and businesses come together and celebrating all the positive aspects of their community.
“This will be an annual event, and other schools in the area have shown an interest in taking part. The kids all had a brilliant time, and we would like to share the experience with other schools next year.”
