Masked raiders armed with a shotgun smashed through a bank window.
The Mitsubishi Shogun was driven through the window of Santander in Northgate, Dewsbury, just before 7pm last night.
Dozens of onlookers witnessed the raid. They described seeing the jeep take three attempts to ram the thick glass at the front of the bank.
On the third attempt, the jeep smashed through but became wedged halfway into the building, while the robbers were forced to escape through the jeep’s side windows.
Two security guards were inside the bank at the time, but escaped uninjured.
A man wearing a balaclava was seen leaving the vehicle before escaping in a red Seat Leon, which was later recovered in Calms Wood Park.
A police spokeswoman said no-one was injured and nothing was stolen.
