A ROW over a puppy and a mobile phone led to a man being stabbed to death.
Richard Oldroyd is accused of murdering Peter Brocklesby, just yards from the victim’s home in Brooklyn Road, Cleckheaton, on May 7.
Mr Brocklesby, 50, formerly of Craven Street, Ravensthorpe, moved to Cleckheaton following his release from prison after serving part of a 22 year sentence for drugs offences. He was released just a few weeks before his death, Leeds Crown Court heard.
Jurors heard that an argument broke out at a house party on May 7 at a flat in Brooklyn Road belonging to Thomas Preston. The party was close to the flat Mr Brocklesby shared with his partner, Lisa Cooke. An argument over a stolen mobile phone led to party-goer Gareth Lightowler being punched to the floor by Oldroyd, of Great Pond Street, Ravensthorpe.
