CCTV catches out school bike thief

A TEENAGER has had his bike returned after it was stolen from a school on Tuesday.

The 15-year-old reported that his bike had been stolen from St John Fisher Catholic High School in Dewsbury at around 11:45pm.

After reviewing CCTV footage, Dewsbury Neighbourhood Policing Team arrested another 15-year-old boy on suspicion of theft.

The suspect admitted stealing the BMX Cobra, which he had taken to Cash Generators in Dewsbury.

Officers then recovered the £150 bike and returned it to its rightful owner.

Sgt Neil Willan said: “We are really pleased to have been able to both arrest the suspect in this crime and recover the stolen bike, all within around 30 hours of the crime being reported to us.”

The 15-year-old is now due to appear in court.
