Police are remaining tight lipped about the reason armed response officers were in Ravensthorpe this weekend.
People took to Twitter and other social networking sites on Sunday afternoon to comment on the large police presence.
Witnesses reported seeing armed police and dog teams near Mahmoods takeaway in Huddersfield Road.
The police helicopter told its Twitter followers: “1530hrs, NPAS31 over Mirfield following a vehicle to Ravensthorpe which stopped and the occupants detained. Ongoing enquiry.”
A police spokesman told the Reporter: “Enquiries were conducted at an address in the Ravensthorpe area on Sunday afternoon in connection with a West Yorkshire Police investigation.
“The investigation is ongoing and it is not possible to comment further at this time.”
