A DEWSBURY drummer is calling on local schoolchildren to help him fill the town with sound in aid of Comic Relief.

Next Friday, Claudio Kron will mark Red Nose Day by hosting a percussion extravaganza in Market Place from 12.30pm.

Mr Kron and the team from Drumming 4 Education will hold a collection for the charity during their lively street show.

He said: “We know through running our school drumming workshops that children love this kind of activity. Red Nose Day is great fun and we wanted to contribute in some way. It’s ambitious but we would like to get more than 100 schoolchildren down to the town centre on the day.”

Meanwhile, Thornhill Lees Community Centre is hosting a family funfair, stalls, face painting, nail bar and entertainment in aid of Comic Relief next Friday, 4.30pm-9.30pm.
