A burglar distracted a gardener with conversation so that two fellow crooks could snatch items from a garage.

Police are appealing for anyone may know those to blame to come forward.

The burglary happened in Church Road, Roberttown, between 11.15am and noon on Friday February 6.

The gardener had left the garage door open while he worked at a property in the Liversedge street.

One culprit began talking to him while two other men stole a heating storage cylinder and other fittings and fixtures.

All three then fled in a white Ford Transit van.

The man who spoke to the gardener is described as white, between 5ft 8in and 5ft 9in, of average build, with a pale complexion and brown hair. He was wearing a green jumper.

The other two men were both white and wearing green trousers with an orange band around.

Batley and Spen Neighbourhood Policing Team’s PC Chris Birkenshaw said: “We would urge anyone who has any other information about this offence or the men involved to call us on 101.”
