Boy rescued after Dewsbury church roof jump threat

A TEENAGE boy had to be talked down from a church roof after threatening to jump.

The 16 year old climbed onto Dewsbury Baptist Church’s roof at about 1.30pm on Saturday.

Dozens of police officers and the police helicopter were dispatched. Shoppers stood and watched the drama unfold as the helicopter circled above the building in Manor Street.

A police spokesperson said a negotiator was brought to the scene and the boy came down at about 3.15pm. He was arrested for breaching his ASBO.
