A fire broke in an attic bedroom of a terraced house today (Friday).
Firefighters from Odsal and Cleckheaton rushed to Pyrah Street in Wyke at around 12.30pm to with the blaze.
The occupant had managed to flee the house after the electrical fire flared up and rang 999.
Odsal red watch station officer Matthew Broadbent said: “It was a fire in the attic bedroom of a two-bedroom terrace.
“We managed to just contain it to the bedroom. It was thick black smoke and difficult to see.”
It took the firefighters only around 10 minutes to put the fire out before clearing up the debris.
The house was already fitted with smoke alarms and Mr Broadbent stressed their importance.
