A van was set alight in an arson attack which damaged another vehicle and a nearby property.

The culprits stuck in Westcliffe Road, Cleckheaton, between 4.30am and 4.40am this morning (Friday).

They smashed the window of a white Ford Transit van parked on the driveway and poured an accelerent in before igniting it.

The fire caused extensive damage to the van, another vehicle parked next to it and partial damage to the property it was parked outside of.

Detective Constable Divek Singh Ubhi, of Kirklees District ID, said: “The motive for this incident is as yet unclear.

“As part of our ongoing enquiries we are keen to speak to anyone who seen someone or something suspicious in the area around the time of this incident.

“Anyone with information is urged to call Kirklees District CID on 101.”
