Colourful produce and fragrant flowers filled St Paul’s Church when Mirfield Allotment Society hosted its 98th annual show.

Dozens of exhibitors shared the fruits of their labour with visitors and judges.

Allotments administrator Roger Johnson said: “The heavy rain did not put off the exhibitors or the people coming to view the show.

“We had 57 exhibitors and 476 individual entries, making it one of our best supported shows in the past five years.

“The new spacious venue of St Paul’s Church also proved to be ideal both for exhibiting and viewing.”

Prizes were awarded in dozens of classes, along with cups and trophies.

The first winner of the new Allotment Cup for best new plot holder was Richard Walker.
