WORK is due to start on Friday at the Sustrans-owned Scout Hill Bridge, which carries the Spen Valley Greenway over the A644 Huddersfield Road.
The £300,000 scheme funded by the Department for Transport is to replace the existing low bridge with a new bridge, which is higher and protected by impact beams.

The new bridge weighs approximately 60 tonnes and will be lifted into place by a crane in August and work is expected to last between nine and 12 weeks..

The A644 will be closed from midnight tonight until midnight on Sunday. Diversions will be signposted.

This road closure has been slightly delayed due to site preparation and the raising of the cycle track levels.
