A MAN from Dewsbury has been charged in connection with the death of a toddler.
Subhan Anwar, 21, was arrested along with his partner Zahbeena Navsarka, also 21.

Navsarka is the mother of two-year-old Sanam, who died after paramedics were called to the family home last Thursday evening.

They received a call for help saying that she was lifeless, and they found she had suffered multiple fractures to her legs and arms.

Sanam was pronounced dead at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary at 11.30pm that night.

The cause of her death is yet to be established.

Anwar lived in Batley and Dewsbury all his life before moving to Riddings Road, Sheepridge, Huddersfield, with Navsarka.

He is a former pupil of Batley Grammar School.

The couple were both charged with grievous bodily harm with intent along with a separate charge of child neglect.

The offences are alleged to have been committed between April 24 and May 9.

Anwar and Navsarka appeared before Huddersfield Magistrates on Monday.

They were remanded in custody to appear before Bradford Crown Court next Monday for a plea and directions hearing.
