POLICE are gearing up for a crime blitz in Dewsbury next week.
Extra patrols will be operating in Dewsbury Moor and there will also be a major crackdown on anti-social driving in the town centre and an early warning about Bonfire Night.

The two-day initiative, from Monday, is part of the Kirklees Focus scheme which sees police and partners concentrate resources and effort into different areas.

The town centre team will tackle the scourge of anti-social driving and especially illegal use of mobile phones while driving, no seat belts and undue noise from car stereos.

The Focus will also involve execution of warrants, a community clean-up and checkiing use of roads by criminals. In particular, Huddersfield Road at Ravensthorpe will be singled out by traffic officers.

There will also be high visibility patrols, licensing visits, use of the CCTV van, patrols targeting illegal parking, crime reduction advice, deployment of off-road bikes and dog warden patrols.
