KIRKLEES is ringing the changes with a new logo for 2007.
The logo, which will cost £1,500 to implement, was unveiled on Wednesday by council leader Robert Light as part of the ruling Tory group’s promise for a fresh new look to the authority.
Coun Light said: “The cabinet is determined to take the council forward with enthusiasm, commitment and energy. It is an appropriate time to re-brand the council with a modern image that is fit for the 21st century and that fits in with the key themes of the four-point ambition framework.
“The new logo is contemporary, gives a feeling of brightness, modern thinking, and progressive intention – key messages we want to embed in the new ambition and council strategies.”
He said the design combined a wind turbine with a contemporary Yorkshire rose.
It also depicts Kirklees’ seven localities – Batley, Birstall and Birkenshaw; Spen Valley; Denby Dale and Kirkburton; Dewsbury and Mirfield; Huddersfield North; Huddersfield South; and The Valleys.
