A MYSTERY tapestry made by a Dewsbury woman more than 150 years ago will be on show at Holy Innocents Church, Thornhill Lees, on May 13.
How the tapestry was discovered and what it depicts will be explained by journalist Margaret Watson, who now has it in her possession.

She hopes the showing of the tapestry will encourage some of the church's former members to pay a visit to their old church. Mrs Watson said the tapestry had a fascinating history but its full history had not been told.

"I am showing it here in Thornhill Lees at this time because this church needs a great deal of support if it is to remain open. We don't want another church closing in Dewsbury, especially not here in Thornhill Lees."

Margaret's talk will be in the schoolroom from 7.30pm. Free admission, tea and biscuits.
